You probably met the Keychron G6 HE in a clip, at a booth, or on a friend's desk next to their keyboard. Then the product page asked you to pick a version, and the weights started to blur: 41 g, 42 g, 49 g, 56 g, 66 g.
This guide sorts that out in the order the page asks, and ends with one version for each kind of player. Specs and US list prices are ours as of October 2026. Owner impressions come from Reddit, linked where quoted, and we did not run our own tests for this article.
Key takeaways
- Lightest wireless mouse, black is fine: Built-in Battery Version, about 42 g.
- Long 8K sessions or you forget to charge: Swappable Battery Version. It ships with two batteries and a dock that charges the spare.
- Any color other than black: Swappable Battery Version. The six other colors come only in that version.
- You want to tune the weight: Swappable Battery Version, from about 41 g wired to about 66 g with a weight block.
What the G6 HE is
View the G6 HE on keychron.com →
A symmetrical wireless gaming mouse for palm and claw grip. Both versions share the parts that decide how it aims:
- Shape: 123.7 mm long, 63 mm wide, 41 mm high.
- Sensor: PixArt 3955 (8K Polling Rate), the only sensor option on the page.
- Connection: 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, or cable, with up to 8,000 Hz over cable and 2.4 GHz.
- Switch: the MagOptic Switch (optical + Hall effect / magnetic switch) on the main buttons, set up in the Keychron Launcher web app.
So the version choice does not change the shape, sensor, or switch. It changes the battery, the receiver, the weight, and the colors.
Swappable Battery Version or Built-in Battery Version
One thing up front: the Built-in Battery Version is the lighter, simpler mouse, and the Swappable Battery Version is the one you can keep wireless all day.
| Swappable Battery Version | Built-in Battery Version | |
|---|---|---|
| US list price | $89.99 | $74.99 |
| Weight, wireless | about 49 g | about 42 g |
| Weight, other setups | 41 g wired without battery; 56 g or 66 g with a weight block | — |
| Batteries in the box | 2 (one in the mouse, one spare) | built in |
| Receiver | TurboLink 8K: receiver, charging dock, four customizable buttons | New UltraLink 8K receiver |
| Colors | Black, White, Frosted Mint, Frosted Lavender, Frosted Pink, Frosted Smoke, Frosted Ice | Black |

The $15 step buys two things: a spare battery, a dock that charges it. If none of those matter on your desk, the Built-in Battery Version gives you the same aim for less.

Weight: what 41, 42, 49, 56 and 66 g mean
Five numbers, two mice. Here is which is which.
- About 42 g: the Built-in Battery Version, wireless. This is the lightest way to play without a cable.
- About 49 g: the Swappable Battery Version with its battery in, wireless.
- 41 g, wired: the same Swappable Battery Version with the battery out, running on the cable.
- 56 g or 66 g: that version again, with a 15 g or 25 g weight block in place of the battery. The blocks are optional and not in the box.
The four Swappable Battery Version figures are ±3 g. The battery itself adds about 8 g, putting the gap between 41 g and 49 g.

If you chase the lowest number for wireless play, take the Built-in Battery Version. If you like a bit more mass under the palm, or want to try both, the Swappable Battery Version lets you change it on the same mouse.
Battery life and the TurboLink 8K dock
Over 2.4 GHz, the G6 HE runs up to 29 hours at 8,000 Hz, 171 hours at 1,000 Hz, and 248 hours at 125 Hz. Polling rate is the biggest lever. If you are unsure how much 8K costs you, our piece on whether 8K polling drains mouse battery faster walks through it.
Built-in Battery Version: when it runs low, plug in the cable and keep playing wired while it charges.
Swappable Battery Version: pull the battery and drop in the charged spare in about 3 seconds. The spare sits on the TurboLink 8K dock, which is also your 8K receiver, so one battery charges while the other plays.

If you play long 8K evenings or forget to charge things, the Swappable Battery Version takes battery life off your list.
Color: Black, White, or one of five Frosted finishes
Black is the only color both versions share. The Built-in Battery Version comes in Black. The Swappable Battery Version comes in Black, White, Frosted Mint, Frosted Lavender, Frosted Pink, Frosted Smoke, and Frosted Ice, all at the same list price.

So if you want the mouse to match a white desk or a colored keyboard, the version choice is already made. After color, the page shows Sensor, and there is one option: PixArt 3955 (8K Polling Rate).
Fit: 123.7 mm, built for palm and claw grip
The G6 HE is 123.7 mm long and symmetrical. We shaped it primarily for palm and claw grip: a fuller rear gives the palm a stable base, and the waist tapers so your fingers stay in control on quick lifts.
Both versions use the same shell, so fit does not decide the version. Put a ruler next to the mouse you use now. If it is close to 124 mm, the G6 HE will feel familiar. Our guide on choosing a mouse by hand size and grip helps if you are between sizes.
The version for each kind of player
The lightest wireless setup
Built-in Battery Version, Black. About 42 g, the lowest list price, nothing to swap. One r/MouseReview poster summed up this choice: "I'd prefer a lighter mouse."
Long 8K sessions
Swappable Battery Version, any color. Two batteries and the TurboLink 8K dock mean you swap instead of plugging in.
A mouse you tune
The same version again. Play at 49 g, go to 41 g on the cable, or add a weight block for 56 g or 66 g.
A color to match your setup
White or any Frosted finish means the swappable model, since the Built-in Battery Version is Black only.
Shortcuts on the desk
Only the swappable model ships with the TurboLink 8K dock. Its four buttons sit next to your monitor and run shortcuts, macros, or apps.
Another Keychron fits better if
Your hand wants a right-handed shape with a thumb rest and a side wheel: the Keychron M6 has both, and it comes with a PixArt 3950 (8K Polling Rate) option.
A carbon fiber shell appeals more: the Keychron G3 Ultra Light is a symmetrical 8K mouse at 44 g, and the carbon fiber build comes on the Black (Carbon Fiber) color.
FAQ
How many batteries come with the Swappable Battery Version?
Two. One is in the mouse, and one is a spare, and the spare charges on the TurboLink 8K dock.
Does adjustable actuation change how the click feels?
No, the MagOptic Switch keeps a mechanical click, and adjusting the actuation point in Launcher only changes where the press counts; our MagOptic Switch page explains how.
What is the difference between the 41 g and 49 g G6 HE?
They are the same Swappable Battery Version. It weighs about 41 g on the cable with the battery out and about 49 g wireless with the battery in. The lighter wireless option is the Built-in Battery Version at about 42 g. To set buttons, DPI, and actuation on either version, see how to customize the G6 HE in Keychron Launcher.
